Prior to pursuing a career in maritime security, Phil was an officer in the Royal Marine Commandos, attaining the rank of Major after 31 years military service. His military career included littoral operations on a global scale, warfighting and specialization in cold weather warfare. Since leaving in 2010, Phil has managed offshore security in the Indian Ocean High Risk Area in support of seismic operations, which included 2 Somali pirate attacks at sea. He went on to establish and coordinate anti-piracy transit operations for a respected PMSC based in Dubai. Phil has a thorough understanding of port operations, personnel training requirements, compliance and management systems. Phil joined BIMCO in 2015 and his primary role is to assist members with all aspects of maritime security; including piracy, drug smuggling, stowaways, mixed mass migration and cyber security. Currently based in Denmark near BIMCO House, Phil maintains his hobby as a cyclist and is always happy to take any queries members may have on any relevant maritime issue.
Svante Einarsson is currently working as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer for DNV GL Maritime. Svante is a co-author of the latest recommended practice DNVGL-RP-0496 “Cyber security resilience management for ships and mobile offshore units in operation” and is also an experienced manager for maritime cyber security advisory projects. He is a certified Lead Auditor for ISO/IEC 27001:2013 – Information Security Management Systems and has long experience in risk assessment and risk management from different industries and on multidisciplinary topics. Svante has a Master of Science in Risk Management and Safety Engineering from Lund University in Sweden.
Born in New York, U.S.A., Dorothea obtained her Juris Doctorate from St. John's University School of Law in New York in 1996 (having already obtained her BA from the City University of NY in 1993) and remains to date, admitted to practice in the state of New York. Having worked in medical insurances, at the Queens County District Attorney’s office, and private practice of law in NY, after relocating to Greece in 1997, Dorothea initially worked in local law firms. In January of 1998, Dorothea entered the Marine Insurance Industry when she joined Allied Insurance Brokers Ltd. to manage the Marine Insurance Claims Department. In 2005, Dorothea joined SCB (Hellas) Inc., the Piraeus Claims Liaison Office for th e Managers of the American P&I Club, (Shipowners Claims Bureau Inc., NY) as a Claims Executive and in 2009 took on the claims management as well as general management of the office. The American P&I Club is a marine insurer providing third party liability insurance for ocean going world-wide trading vessels. In 2010 she was appointed to the Executive Committee of the NY Management Shipowners Claims Bureau Inc. In 2013 she was given the position of Regional Business Development Director for Europe Middle East and Africa and since June 2015, she holds the position of Global Business Development Director which makes her the first woman to occupy a top level global executive position in the history of the American Club and its Managers, Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc. Dorothea is active in the shipping industry and served on Board of WISTA Hellas, part of International Women in Shipping Association for four years as Vice President, currently serves as a board member of the Piraeus Marine Club and is a member of the American Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, the CEO Club Greece as well as the Propeller Club. Most recently she was also appointed as a board member of the American Hellenic Hull Insurance Company, Ltd., a Cypriot registered and licensed marine insurance company, wholly owned subsidiary of the American P&I Club.
Holding 20 years of experience in the Shipping Industry, Panos G. Moraitis created Aspida in 2010, a pioneer in the Maritime Security sector, now an organisation managing risk in a broad variety of markets. Being genuinely interested in technology and computer science, Panos acknowledged the cyber risks that Maritime Industry could face early enough and created Aspida’s Cyber Security division to explore and address cyber threats at sea. While leading a company that keeps evolving, Panos strongly believes that giving back to the community is essential: he serves as an ambassador of Sailors Society, sponsors an Olympic-winning athlete, and is the founder of Emergency Response Centre International (ERCI), a Greek nonprofit organisation that provides emergency response and humanitarian aid in times of crisis.
Ioli PAPADOPOULOU is one of the Managing Partners of AVERWAY Ltd. She is also the Business Development Manager for SophiMail, the premium business email. Ioli has extensive business experience for more than 20 years, with proven accomplishments through increasing responsibilities, across different markets & business cultures. Before AVERWAY, she worked as Marketing Manager for Emporiki Leasing SA, Credit Agricole Group. Prior to that, she held senior positions with BIC Violex SA (where she was responsible for all the core products), Fourlis Trade (responsible for Samsung), and Sony Hellas. Ioli has a bachelor in Business Administration, Specialization Marketing, by the Athens University of Economics & Finance and has attended an executives MBA course by the same university as well as the latest Data Privacy Conferences (EU GDPR).
Electra has 20 years' experience in shipping litigation and claims and specialises in disputes arising from international trade including bills of lading, charterparties, MoA disputes and all associated insurance matters. She also handles "wet" claims (collisions, groundings, salvage) and has significant experience in limitation actions and general average. She often coordinates multi-jurisdictional disputes, including cross-border liquidation. She has extensive experience in dealing with large cargo claims arising from liquefaction, fire, explosions, collapse of stow and all types of container claims. In recent years she has been advising and lecturing on legal issues relating from cyber attacks, cyber fraud and incidents arising from the malicious use of cyber technology. After practising from 12 years in London, she moved to Piraeus in 2009 and joined HFW Greece in 2014. She is bilingual (English & Greek) and speaks fluent French.
He holds Msc in Security of Digital Systems from University of Piraeus. He is also certified as Lead Auditor for ISO 27001:2013. He has occupied as Information Security Consultant in the Cyber Security Unit Of Greek Army General Staff. In the past he has occupied in various positions in the IT Industry with proven accomplishments. His areas of expertise lies on Information Security Risk Assessment Methodologies, Forensics Analysis, Threat Intelligence and Information Security Training.
Vangelis Moutafis joined International Registries, Inc.'s (IRI's) Piraeus office in August 2012 as Maritime Operations Specialist. His current responsibilities include handling of Safety, Technical and Shipsecurity matters. Prior to joining IRI, Mr. Moutafis had been working for 10 years as DPA/CSO in Greek shipping companies, being responsible for the oversight of ISM/ISPS external and internal audits (ashore and shipboard), as well as vessel's Flag and PSC inspections. He received his Bachelor of Science Honors in International Shipping & Transport from the London Metropolitan University and his Master of Science in Marine Policy from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
